Pre-Order – Hyalophora cecropia (Cecropia Moth) Fertile Eggs

Moths emerging May 11–22 → eggs laid shortly after → first batch ships ~May 25–June 10, 2026

Important:

This is a PRE-ORDER. Eggs will be shipped in the order received.

Expected hatch: 10–14 days after laying (mid-to-late June)

70–90% hatch rate guarantee. 

Refunds are available if the entire lot fails, photos will be required.

Alternatively, the shop can also arrange for a new egg shipment in line with the emergence of the second group adult moths in early - mid July 2026. The shop will try to rectify any full-lot failures in this way, no returns/exchanges for obvious reasons.

Shipped in ventilated 600mm petri dish with the acid-free kraft paper they were laid on by the adult female moths (no leaves included). Eggs will expedited via USPS Priority Mail Express (1-2 business days), due to their time sensitive nature and to avoid any potential transit complications.

Host plants for hatchlings: 
Sugar maple, cherry, lilac, apple, birch, willow, etc.

US shipping only, no international orders at this time – Eggs will be shipped in a 600mm ventilated petri dish, securely inside of an 8 x 8 x 4" shipping box.

Care basics (A more extensive care guide will be included with your shipment):

Keep at 68–75°F, 40–60% humidity, out of direct sun. Transfer hatchlings to fresh leaves immediately.

Limited first batch. Restock will be made available if necessary, and a second batch will be made available in a separate listing for late early - mid July 2026.

Per the USDA, buyers outside the state of New Jersey should acquire a PPQ 526 permit. This allows for the interstate movement of these eggs. Your permit should specify Jackson, New Jersey as the origin, and your residence as the destination, in order to be compliant. Please bear this in mind when purchasing.
